Portrait of a Famous Actress
I was disappointed with my portrait of Deborah Winger when I first painted it. The only part I liked was that cigarette dangling from her sexy mouth. The rest failed to catch the spirit of the gifted actress. But then the image of a floral triangle flashed on me. I used it to revise the portrait of Winger. It’s a method that leads to the unexpected—automatisms, even if you have no idea where they are taking you. When it all comes together, it brings a big sigh of relief.
